Departure….
Why Indigo Rising Exists
For nearly two decades, we have lived inside the world of landscape construction.
Not from a distance.
Not from behind a desk.
Inside it.
For 17 years, Twisted Vine Design has designed and built outdoor environments throughout Colorado. Through those years came thousands of conversations, hundreds of projects, endless site walks, weather delays, stone dust, sketches, revisions, problem solving, and the slow accumulation of something more valuable than trend awareness:
perspective.
Over time, a realization emerged.
The most meaningful projects were never simply about patios, plantings, lighting, or square footage. They were about how a space changed the way people lived within it. How it altered the pace of a morning. How it gathered family without forcing it. How certain environments could quiet the nervous system almost immediately, while others, despite their expense, remained strangely hollow.
We became increasingly interested in the experience beneath the materials.
That shift changed the questions we began asking.
Not:
“How do we make this bigger?”
But:
“How should this feel?”
Not:
“What’s popular right now?”
But:
“What will still feel grounded ten years from now?”
Not:
“How much can fit here?”
But:
“What actually deserves to exist here?”
Indigo Rising was created from that evolution.
It is the design and consulting arm born from nearly two decades of real-world execution. A studio focused on intentional environments, emotional resonance, restraint, longevity, and deeply personalized outdoor experiences.
Where Twisted Vine was built to successfully design and construct projects at scale, Indigo Rising exists to slow the process down again. To become more selective. More immersive. More thoughtful. More aligned.
The relationship between the two is intentional.
Indigo Rising serves as the conceptual and experiential design studio. Twisted Vine remains the trusted construction partner we often recommend for implementation due to its longstanding operational experience, field-tested systems, and deep understanding of how these environments are meant to come together in reality, not just on paper.
This distinction matters.
Because beautiful drawings alone are not enough.
The gap between vision and execution is where most projects lose their soul.
One of the advantages of this structure is continuity. The ideas developed through Indigo Rising are informed by years of construction knowledge, installation realities, material behavior, drainage science, grading strategy, and the countless invisible decisions that determine whether a project merely photographs well or truly lives well.
Indigo Rising was never created to chase volume.
It was created to pursue clarity.
To create spaces with intention instead of excess.
To prioritize feeling over feature lists.
To design environments that age gracefully rather than loudly.
To approach landscape architecture less like decoration and more like atmosphere.
In many ways, Indigo Rising is not a departure from the past 17 years.
It is the distillation of them. Why Indigo Rising Exists
